Journalisten Dick Mattsson (Olin) får i uppgit att undersöka ett dödsfall i ett herrsällskap. En medlem dog i en båtolycka under midsommarirandet. När Mattsson gräver djupare visar det sig vara en komplex mordplot. Han besöker en f.d lickvän Brita Ljungdahl (Landgré), som ligger i skilsmässa från en av medlemmarna i säll- skapet Erik Ljungdahl (Kjellson). Han upptäcker att en detektiv som undersökte fallet har blivit skjuten. I en upphittad bok hade denne strukit under “metalliskt natrium”. Eter många turer sammankallar Mattsson medlemmarna i sällskapet och Brita och informerar att han nu vet vem mördaren är och räcker denne en lapp med numret till polisen. Erik Ljungdahls tidigare vänner vänder sig bort i avsky. Mattsson tar Brita under armen och går.
Journalist Dick Mattsson (Olin) is investigating a death at a gentle- men’s club. One member Lasse Johnsson, died in a boat accident during a the Midsummer celebrations. When Mattsson digs deeper it turns out to be a complex plot of murder. He visits an old lame Brita Ljungdahl (Langré) who is in the process of divorcing one member of the club Erik Ljungdahl (Kjellson). Mattsson inds that a detective investigating the case has been shot. In a book found at his place he has underlined “metallic sodium”. Ater numerous comings and goings Mattsson convenes the members and Brita and declares that he now knows who the murderer is. He hands him a note with the number to the police. Erik Ljungdahl’s friends turn away in dis- gust. Mattsson leaves with Brita under his arm.
